Dying Light 2 uses various weapon mods to change playstyle dramatically. Each mod can be one of three different types and slotted into one of three different parts of a weapon. There are Crit mods, Power mods, and Blast mods that can be fit into either the Tip, Shaft, or Grip socket of a weapon. These mods will be scattered all over the place, but you will acquire most of them from Craftmasters in various settlements.

First Weapon Mods

You can acquire the first weapons mods available from the Craftmaster at the Bazaar. After the Prologue, you can access this once the Markers of Plague Story Quest is completed. Players can purchase the mods by talking to the Craftmaster and upgrading them in the Upgrade Menu. These first mods are:

• Blaze - Tip, Crit. Applies Fire.
• Empowerment - Grip. Increases damage.
• Reinforcement - Grip. Reduces durability consumption.
• Flame - Tip, Crit. Applies Fire.
• Fling - Tip, Crit. Applies Blast.
• Fling - Shaft, Crit. Applies Blast.
• Spark - Shaft, Crit. Applies Shock.
• Venom - Tip, Crit. Applies Toxic.
• Venom - Shaft, Crit. Applies Toxic.
• Voltage - Tip, Crit, Applies Shock.

Mod Types

• Crit Mods - Mods that are activated upon landing a critical hit.
• Power Mods - Mods that require the player to charge them up by repeatedly hitting enemies before the mod's power is unleashed.
• Blast Mods - Mods that can be activated manually but have a cooldown after being used.

Elemental Mods

• Blast - Pushes enemies away.
• Bleed - Deals damage over time to enemies.
• Fire - Deals damage over time and can spread to other enemies.
• Freeze - Can freeze enemies temporarily.
• Shock - Deals a burst of damage that can then chain to enemies and immobilize them briefly.
• Toxic - Staggers and poisons enemies, stunning them and allowing various Parkour combat skills.
