What is reverse boosting in Call of Duty: Warzone?
Call of Duty: Warzone implements a lobby forming feature called skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). As the name suggests, SBMM allows the game to put players with similar skill levels in a match.
The exact criteria for determining a player's skill level is unknown. Though one may say that it's done via examining the in-game statistics of the player such as K/D ratio and last few games' performance. This is where reverse boosting comes into play.
Reverse boosting is a method used by Warzone players to counter SBMM. Players deliberately die, or get killed, early in the game continuously for some matches to lower their stats. Evaluating the previous games' record as a determining factor, SBMM eventually matches the player in an easy, low skill lobby.

Smurfing and reverse boosting are generally frowned upon in the gaming community. However, the strictness of skill-based matching in a casual game compels players to use these methods. Some may argue that there should be two separate modes in Call of Duty: Warzone—casual and competitive.
The casual playlist will not incorporate SBMM, whereas the competitive mode will be dedicated to ranked play. This feature is present in other popular Battle Royale games such as Apex Legends and Fortnite, and may be added to Warzone in the future.
