Should you pull on the Epitome Invocation for Genshin Impact 2.2?

The second half of Genshin Impact's Version 2.2 update just dropped, bringing along a new Epitome Invocation banner with old classics and new weapons to vie for. This event banner will run from Nov. 2, 2021, to Nov. 23, 2021, so you have some time to prepare enough Intertwined Fates to pull.

How Does The Epitome Invocation Work?

The Epitome Invocation is primarily a weapon banner, which means that the five-star guarantee will always be a weapon. However, the four-star lineup consists of both weapons and characters. You're guaranteed a four-star weapon or character every 10 wishes and a five-star weapon every 80 wishes. If you're lucky, you can score one on your first wish!

Out of all the items in the pool, you have a 75% chance of obtaining the weapons on rate-up. Don't forget to set the Epitomized Path on the bottom-left of the weapon banner to guarantee your five-star of choice on your third five-star pull.

Five-Star Rate-Up

The Epitome Invocation features two amazing five-star weapons that a bunch of characters can benefit from, the Elegy for the End and Staff of Homa.

Elegy for the End

The Elegy for the End is a powerhouse bow that's perfect for Support or Sub-DPS characters, such as Venti, Kujou Sara, Diona, and even Ganyu (when used not as the Main DPS). In particular, it provides an Energy Recharge substat and Elemental Mastery passive, allowing you to trigger extremely strong Elemental Reactions with little downtime.

This weapon is a must-have if you have a team built-up, are on the end-game, and rely on Elemental Reaction-heavy teams with a core bow user. Even if you change teams, you can pass the bow onto a different character and still benefit from its passive.

But if you're on a tight Primogem budget and are looking to pull for another character to build your team, wishing on a weapon banner may not be your best option at the moment. Some four-star alternatives can do a similar job.

  • Base Attack: 46-608
  • Substat: Energy Recharge (12-55.1 percent)
  • Passive: Elemental Mastery +60/75/90/105/120. When the wielder hits opponents with Elemental Skills or Elemental Bursts, they gain a Sigil of Remembrance once every 0.2 seconds, whether on or off-field. When four Sigils of Remembrance are held, they will be consumed by all nearby party members, who will obtain the "Millennial Movement: Farewell Song" effect for 12 seconds. It increases Elemental Mastery by 100/125/150/175/200 and Attack by 20/25/30/35/40 percent. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Remembrance for 20s. Of the many effects of the "Millennial Movement," buffs of the same type will not stack.

Staff of Homa

The Staff of Homa is the best-in-slot pick for Zhongli, Hu Tao, and the new four-star polearm user, Thoma. Hu Tao's damage scales off HP, while Zhongli and Thoma's shields become stronger when their HP is higher. As such, HP increase from the Staff of Homa's passive is a massive boost for the HP-hungry. To top it all off, a Crit Damage substat is always amazing, so your Artifacts can focus on boosting Crit Rate instead.

This polearm is a must-pull if you have Primogems saved up and are invested in these characters—especially Hu Tao. But as always, if you're tight on resources and need more characters to find your perfect team, perhaps wish on the character banner instead.

  • Base Attack: 46-608
  • Substat: Crit Damage (14.4-62.2 percent)
  • Passive: HP +20/25/30/35/40 percent. Additionally, provides an Attack bonus based on 0.8/1/1.2/1.4/1.6 percent of the wielder's Max HP. When the wielder's HP is less than 50%, this Attack bonus is increased by an additional 1/1.2/1.4/1.6/1.8 percent of Max HP.

Four-Star Rate-Up

Some coveted classics such as the Sacrificial Sword, Rainslasher, and The Widsith are in the pool to help you bring up your weapon Refinement Ranks. Pull for these if you need them and can spare the Primogems—otherwise, you can skip the banner as they'll always be in every banner, albeit not always on rate-up.

Meanwhile, here are two new and limited four-star rate-ups in this banner: Mouun's Moon and Wavebreaker's Fin.

Mouun's Moon

There are a lot of amazing four-star bows in the game, which makes Mouun Moon feel a little less special. However, it definitely has a place among Sub-DPS characters whose Elemental Burst skills can dish out a ton of damage, such as Venti, Kujou Sara, and Ganyu (when built as a Support instead of the Main DPS). Or use it on a Burst DPS character, such as Aloy or Childe (not in melee form).

If your eyes are set on the Elegy for the End, getting the Mouun's Moon by chance could be a decent consolation prize. But it's not worth intentionally pulling on the banner for a shot at this bow.

  • Base Attack: 44-565
  • Substat: Attack (6-27.6 percent)
  • Passive: For every point of the entire party's combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst Damage of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12/0.15/0.18/0.21/0.24 percent. A maximum of 40/50/60/70/80 percent increased Elemental Burst Damage can be achieved this way.

Wavebreaker's Fin

The Wavebreaker's Fin is like Mouun's Moon but in polearm form. Theoretically, Burst DPS characters such as Raiden and Xiangling will love this weapon, but there are too many good polearms (including four-stars) that make this a difficult choice to pull.

So if you happen to pull on this banner for another weapon and chance upon a Wavebreaker's Fin, consider using it on your Burst DPS. Otherwise, it's not recommended to intentionally pull for this, especially if you already have The Catch.

  • Base Attack: 45-620
  • Substat: Attack (3-13.8 percent)
  • Passive: For every point of the entire party's combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst Damage of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12/0.15/0.18/0.21/0.24 percent. A maximum of 40/50/60/70/80 percent increased Elemental Burst Damage can be achieved this way.
