Minecraft: Soul Speed Enchantment Guide
Minecraft will be adding a new enchantment in the 1.16 Nether update that will help you run faster on certain types of blocks! We've got all the information you'll need on how-to get it, and what it does in this Soul Speed enchantment guide!
How to Get the Soul Speed Enchantment
The only way that you can get the Soul Speed enchantment right now is to barter with Piglins. These are a new NPC that can be found in the Crimson Forest and Nether Wastes biomes in The Nether. They will be hostile to you unless you are wearing at least one piece of gold armor. Once you've pacified them with your impressive display of wealth, you can hand them a gold ingot and they will randomly drop one of the items in their loot table.
There are three levels of Soul Speed, each higher level increases the amount of speed you can run on each of the blocks.
What Does Soul Speed Enchantment Do?
The Soul Speed enchantment can only be placed on boots. You can add it to any boot type, that includes Leather, Chain, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Netherite. When you have it placed on a pair of boots, you will have increased run speed on Soul Sand and Soul Soil. This is pretty interesting because Soul Sand slows you down while you're running around on it, so this enchantment will eliminate that negative attribute. You will find yourself heading to The Nether a lot more once the 1.16 update is live, so obtaining this enchantment on your boots might be a good idea!
There is a negative about this enchantment! While you are running on either Soul Sand or Soil you will lose durability on your boots. You will want to make sure to have both Mending and Unbreaking on your armor so you can regenerate it and not have to constantly repair it.
