Is Rainbow Six Extraction PvE or PvP?

Rainbow Six Extraction is a spin-off of the ever-popular Rainbow Six Seige and will release on Jan. 20 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Those familiar with the Rainbow series may be wondering if Rainbow Six Extraction will be PvE or PvP.

Rainbow Six Extraction will be PvE, unlike Rainbow Six Seige, which is PvP. This means that those used to the gameplay of Rainbow Six Seige should not go into Rainbow Six Extraction expecting a similar experience. But this poses the question—what do PvE and PvP mean?

What do PvE and PvP Mean?

PvE and PvP are two commonly used descriptions of video games, especially multiplayer games. What they stand for is player versus enemy and player versus player.

PvE typically means that players must work together to defeat the AI-controlled enemies. This is common in games where players must fight off hordes of enemies. In addition, single-player games and cooperative multiplayer games typically use this term to describe their gameplay.

PvP will see players battling against other players. This is a true test of skill as you typically need to rely on your own skill or that of your teammates. Online multiplayer games like shooters and fighting games typically adopt this tag.

Rainbow Six Extraction is a PvE game which means that players will need to work together to overcome the monsters called the Archæans. Players can go it alone or in groups of three. Being PvE means that players will need to work together rather than against one another.
