How to Update Sea of Thieves on PC

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life has finally been released, and many players are excited to play this new update featuring Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. However, on PC, the update process isn't automatic, so many people are confused how to force the update and join in on the fun. In the guide below, we explain how to force an update to the game on your Windows PC.

The instructions below explain what you need to do based on the steps in the image above.

  • Open the Microsoft Store. The easiest way to do this is to click the Start (Windows) button on the bottom left of your PC Desktop. Alternatively, you can press the Windows key on your keyboard, if you have one.
  • Search for Sea of Thieves. Use the search bar on the top right of the Microsoft Store menu to search for Sea of Thieves.
  • Select the game from the list. There will be many things you can purchase from the Microsoft Store for Sea of Thieves. To update the game, select the option for the game itself, which looks like the image above on the right.

    • Once you follow these steps, the game will automatically start updating. If it doesn't, be sure to press the Update button on the right side of the Sea of Thieves menu. This is a rather large update, so it may take a while to start playing with Captain Jack Sparrow!
