Front and center of the promotional materials for Patch 6.1 of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker was a small dog minion whose name was later revealed to be Chewy in-game. The tiny, dark-furred puppy is one of the most sought after minions right now. Here’s how to unlock Chewy in Final Fantasy XIV.

The Chewy minion is a drop from Retainer Ventures, specifically Lvl 90 Woodland Exploration XXVIII for Botanist.

In order to go on this exploration, your retainer will need to be a level 90 Botanist, which means you'll also have to have achieved this feat. Your retainer will also need a Gathering high enough to go on the mission, at least over 2000. This can be achieved by equipping them with sufficient gear.

Finally, there’s only a small chance that your retainer will return with the Chewy minion. There’s also a chance they could return with crafting materials and Allagan pieces instead. However, with some patience, you’ll be able to get the minion in just a few tries.

There’s also another way to get the minion that’s a lot more expensive. You can put the minion on the Market Board where, at the time of writing, it retails for between one to 20 million Gil, a crazy price considering 20 million Gil would net you a mansion in the new housing district. But luckily, the price will fall as more and more players get their hands on Chewy.
