How to lock on and auto-aim in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition
In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Definitive Edition, you can control how sensitive your aim assist is. Originally, it was very powerful and difficult to stop aiming at pedestrians. The auto-aim works by just holding L1 (PS4) to aim.
To set their aim, all players need to do is go to the Main Menu and press Options, or press Start. Select Gameplay from the menu. The game can then be set to Free Aim, Classic Aim, or Aim Assist.
On PC:
- Configure your keyboard and mouse by selecting Options > Setup Controls > Configuring your Keyboard + Mouse.
- Change the configuration to JOYPAD if you still want the right-click auto-aiming to work.
- It is now possible to auto-aim with the right click, although this temporarily disables the move camera options.

The aim assist is the best, and it is similar to the aim assist in other video games. Players can also adjust the sensitivity from the same menu. Ideally, it should be between 50 and 75 percent. This fixes CJ's habit of turning around and not staying aimed at the correct person.
The only way to keep locking onto enemies in-game is to stop aiming with L1 (PS4) and then aiming again. If you manually aim, just move the right stick to a different place, and CJ will stop locking onto his enemy.
