To feed chickens in Stardew Valley, you will need hay that can be purchased from Marine's ranch for 50 gold apiece and stored in silos.
You will also need to place the hay you get inside a chicken coop that you can buy from Robin at the carpenter shop for 4k gold and 300 wood and 100 stone—this first chicken coop can also hold up to four chickens.
Inside this first chicken coop will be a feeding station to the right of the coop, where you can place up to four pieces of hay.

How to get Chickens in Stardew Valley
You can purchase chickens if you need them from Marine's ranch for 800 gold apiece and can be raise to get two different types of eggs in the game. These eggs come in both regular and large sizes and can be sold or turned into mayonnaise via a mayonnaise machine.
You can also get special chickens such as the void chicken, which lays void eggs, ducks, and even a golden chicken and a dinosaur that all lay special egg variants.
However, to raise these special "chickens," you will need to purchase the big coop upgrade and of course, go through some steps to acquire them. That said, here are the resources you will need to get the big coop in Stardew Valley.
