How the hipfire Shatter Caps Hop-Up buff works in Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance
The Shatter Caps Hop-Up was originally added to Apex Legends in Season 9: Legacy, and hadn’t been touched since, until now. According to an Apex Legends press panel, Season 12: Defiance is giving a major buff to the Hop-Up that will allow the weapons it enhances to be a lot more versatile. Let’s take a look at what the Shatter Caps buff looks like.
The Shatter Cap Hop-Up worked in past seasons was that you could choose between normal fire and the split projectile spread fire modes, mimicking a shotgun with a normal fire mode toggle. Now, however, the hipfire shots on each weapon will automatically be in Shatter Caps mode. This means players can seamlessly alternate between a close-range hipfire shotgun, and an Aim Down Sights (ADS) mid-range single fire weapon without switching firemodes.

This is a major improvement in terms of versatility, however, does mean there is no more toggle on the weapon. Hipfire will be Shatter Caps all the time when it's equipped, and ADS will be Precision shooting, no matter if it is equipped or not. Sorry, ADS Shotgun enjoyers.
The two weapons compatible with the Shatter Caps are both Marksman weapons, one being the 30-30 Repeater introduced in Season 8: Mayhem, and the other being the Bocek Compound Bow, introduced in Season 9 alongside the Hop-Up in question.
