How the Caustic nerf affects his Nox Gas Traps in Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance
Caustic has always been about control and tank plays. This made a lot of players nervous with the introduction of the Control LTM. Caustic’s Nox Gas Trap Tactical would be absolutely brutal in terms of holding control points. Luckily for players who don’t main him, his traps are getting a major nerf alongside the release of the brand-new game mode. Let’s take a look at how this nerf works.
So, while Caustic’s traps are dangerous, as their gas is set off when a player gets too close, there is a way to counter play against them. Shooting the bottom cylinder on the Gas Trap will destroy the trap. Before the nerf, you could only destroy a trap if you noticed it and shot the cylinder before the trap was activated. After the nerf, the trap can be destroyed both before and after activation, though it looks a little different.

This may seem like a small set of changes, but in modes like Control and Arenas, this nerf is the difference between life and death. It also makes Caustic’s ultimate more valuable, as that is now the only variant of long-lasting non-preventable gas. This nerf will be less devastating for Caustic mains in Battle Royale, especially wit the small duration buff intact, but overall, the Caustic meta is definitely shaken.
