How old do you have to be to play Fortnite?
According to the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), Fortnite is Rated T for Teens. Every game with that rating is eligible to play for every person of the age 13 or older.
This rating category says that the game may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language. Of course, not every single thing is in Fortnite, but there are reasons why the game is rated that way.

There is a lot of weapons in the game and shooting at your enemies is the core mechanic of Fortnite. In order to win you need to eliminate all of your opponents.
In addition, you have to be at least 13 years old or higher in order to participate in the official Fortnite tournaments. Apart from that, you will need a permit from your parent or legal guardian until you are 17 years old.
The game is very colorful and kids' friendly with a lot of vibrant customization elements, a lot of new skins that make you stand out from the other players. It does not mean that the game is for kids only. It is just a visual style and directions the developers took in the presentation of their vision.
