How does Stress work in Darkest Dungeon 2

Darkest Dungeon 2 is not for the faint of heart. In this roguelike turn-based RPG, the player will build a party of four and set out for the distant mountain in the hopes of averting the apocalypse. This is a heavy burden, especially considering the horrors that wait on the road, and as such, it is understandable that stress will build up.

Stress is an important feature in Darkest Dungeon 2 and one the player must constantly manage. Each character has a stress meter which can go up to a maximum of ten. Should a character's stress reach that level, they will have a meltdown which is extremely bad for that character and the party.

When a character has a meltdown, their health will be greatly reduced, and their relationships with other characters will be tested. This can cause two characters' affinity to be reduced to zero and cause that relationship to be tested, which also has significant consequences. Managing stress is key to surviving on this hellish road trip.

Unfortunately, this isn't the easiest task. Many factors can increase stress, including suffering attacks, siding with another character's opinion, or even just gained while traveling. Stress should be reduced whenever possible. This can be done in various ways, including combat items, inns, and trinkets, so players should watch for these items.
