Best Companions in Dragon Age Inquisition
Picking the right companions in Dragon Age: Inquisition can be tricky. There is a necessary balance for players within their party for both playability and humor. Luckily, players have access to a total of nine companions to choose from.
The Best Rogue Companion
While Varric can have a silver tongue, and Cole can be eerily chilling, Sera makes every moment an adventure. With her ridiculous wit and hatred of the patriarchy, she is wholly unlike any other elf. Players should try to catch up with this crazy friend of Red Jenny before she's gone.
With her specialization of the Tempest, she can be a wild card on the field as well. Offering buffs and debuffs to her arsenal in the form of flasked concoctions, she makes a wonderful team player in and out of combat.

The Best Warrior Companion
Iron Bull, one of the mightiest warriors available across what is left of Thedas. While Blackwall has a dark past to thwart and Cassandra is dealing with her possible future, Iron Bull is just there for a good time. This charming Qunari aligns himself with the Inquisitor to protect himself and the Inquisition from the peering eyes of the Qun. He's hilarious, packs a punch, and is incredibly straightforward.
The Iron Bull's specialization is in the Reaver class alongside his love of two-handed weapons. This makes him an incredibly bloody fighter with lots of AOE and DPS damage. While he may not be a tank, he'll offer some incredible damage against all of the Inquisitor's enemies.
The Best Mage Companion
Dorian Pavus doesn't appear until later in the game and will be around as a possible companion when the Inquisitor decides whether to support the mages or the templars. Dorian is incredibly intelligent like Solas and Vivienne, without being heartless or a snob. He holds a unique position within the storyline, which offers players access to a better understanding of the events that lead up to the start of the game.
Dorian's specialization is in the art of Necromancy. This grants him a decent support role as a buff and debuff-focused mage. Pair this skill tree with that of Life to grant the Inquisitor one of the best healers available in the game.
